We had thought about going back and hiking some more of the PCT this summer. The crazy winter and large amount of snowfall in California this year, made us think twice about it. We decided to forgo the hike and started to look at alternative plans. We figured into our planning the fact that we would go back East and visit our Moms and family. That got us looking at Canada as I have always wanted to go into Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. From there, the plans exploded into a two month Canadian and Upper Michigan excursion. We will be exploring Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Quebec, Montreal, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta. We will end up in Montana, and some time in Colorado, before heading back to Utah. A grand adventure is in store for us.

We left Utah and the desert heat on Saturday, June 24th. We drove to Colorado where we stayed with our friends Jim and Karen (their names have not been changed as they are not so innocent). Our daughter Laura and her boyfriend, Matt came up to see us and I played Dead of Winter, a zombie board game with them and Jim and Karen’s son Matt. You all should be happy that we saved the world from the zombie scourge. We relaxed on Sunday where we played another game, Pandemic, this time saving the world from the outbreaks of disease. All this saving the world tired us out!

Monday morning (the 26th) we left Colorado in the early morning hours and started our drive east. We made it to Coralville, Iowa that evening after 12 hours of driving. Tuesday involved 11 hours of driving and we made it to Clarion, Pennsylvania, 60 miles into the state. Wednesday we finished our driving and arrived in New York at my moms house at 2:15 PM, a short day at 6 hours and 45 minutes. We will be here until July 10th or 11th and then to New Jersey to see Carols Mom and our son Steven and his wife Jen. From there we will start our slow Road Trip to Canada and beyond. Once that starts, I plan on going back to my daily journals of the trip and will try my best to update this as often as is possible. Hope to hear from you all in our comments section once I start updating regularly.
