Baden-Baden, Germany Sunday, August 12, 2012
Today was pamper Carol day. I may have been pampered somewhat myself too. We came to this town strictly to relax before Switzerland and today was that day. Baden means bath so I guess the town name means bath bath. There are several thermal baths here and we chose Friederichsbad which was on the site of the old Roman baths. You go in and follow a series of rooms that get you progressively hotter and then progressively cooler. There are steam rooms and various different pools. The common pool in the middle is under a great dome. We also paid for a soap brush massage in between this and Carol had more with a cream massage later. Everything is au natural with some days men and women split except for a few rooms and others like today where all rooms were co-ed. It was very reasonable, about 60 USD for Carol with her massages and 4 hours to spend inside and 45 Dollars for mine with the one less massage. The soap brush massage was wonderful. You are soaped up, brushed down, massaged front and back and a smacked in the ass at the end. This has the only steam room in the world that is 100% natural from the earth. On top of that you are sitting where the Romans sat 1500-2500 years ago. You can not beat that!
We are now both totally relaxed and invigorated, ready for our journey to Switzerland. As we are staying in quite a few huts and small villages, it may be a week or more before we can update this again. Germany has been great and we can’t wait to see what Switzerland has in store for us.
