Room in Baden Baden

Train from Munich to Baden Baden. Private room pretty much to ourselves except for one stop. Talked to a man from Suttgart about Switzerland and life with nature. Changed trains in Mannheim and saw a guy wearing a tutu. Only later when watching the news did it come to bear that we missed the Christopher Street gay happening in Mannheim. What a shame!

Train from Mannheim to Baden Baden most crowded of trip. Took a while just to find two empty seats. Shared some conversation with a couple from Luzern. He looked a little like Sigmund Freud and lo and behold he turns out to be a psychologist.

Outside Our Window

Arrived in Baden Baden after 4 hours and checked in to the Am Markt. Very cool location next to the catholic church and off the main path. Decideded to take a bus to the Merkhur Bahn a pulley incline rail up to the top of a mountain here. Rude lady at ticket counter would not take dimes and 20 cent pieces for Carols ticket. Apparently she had a counting disability! Ride up was cool and nice views from the top. We walked the 3 miles back to the bottom and took the bus back to town. Dinner at an Italian restaurant where the owner was Italian but had lived in Boston for twenty years. Then a stroll for strolling sake along a path that follows a small river passing old mansions.

I Promised Her a Rose Garden

We ended up at a beautiful rose garden. Baden Baden does not seem to have that old German feel at least from first impression. But, once off the main drag it is quite quaint with lots of cobblestone streets and quiet places.
