Burney Falls

We love zero days. We got a good night’s sleep and slept in which for us is now 0800. Shannon had gotten up much earlier and had breakfast, so we decided just to do a light breakfast at McDonalds and save our hunger for lunch. We had lunch at the Alpine Inn which consisted of burgers and shakes. Dinner was Mexican at La Fogata which was very good. In between meals, we did our resupply shopping, had some more wine and beer, and waited for Golfer, a friend from St George to show up. Golfer (Mark) had joined us in 2014 for 3 days at the end of our desert stretch. He will hike the 6 day stretch with us from Burney to Dunsmuir.

Navigator and Pit Stop

Golfer showed up in the afternoon and we drove to Burney Falls for two reasons. One was that PS2 (Shannon) had sent a resupply package there before she hooked up with us. Getting it now will save us a detour to do it tomorrow while hiking. The second reason was to see the falls at the suggestion by Golfer, who had been there before. The falls were really nice and worth the short walk to see them. After this we went back to our Motel and hung out until it was time for bed. Golfer was staying at another Motel up the road but the plan is for him to get us in the morning and we will drive back to the trail head. Golfer will be joining us in this section and will leave his car near the trail and pick it up after we finish this section at Dunsmuir. We have arranged a ride back to his car with Shannon or our friend Half and Half who is meeting us in Dunsmuir. PS2 will end her hike there, Golfer will go back to his travels, and Navigator and Pit Stop will continue their trek towards Oregon and beyond. So tomorrow, it is back to the trail.
