This week has not been a great one for getting out and adventuring. It all started Sunday after we did a 5 mile walk and hike in the Tortoise Reserve. When we got home, Carol wasn’t feeling good and went to rest.her condition went downhill from there and on Wednesday, she finally gave up and went to see the doctor. Diagnosis was bronchitis and a sinus infection. This caused us to cancel Thursday evening with friends and the game night we were hosting on Friday. Carol has been sleeping in another bedroom on the opposite side of the house from our room. We have dubbed it the sick ward. I have managed to get out, run errands, and walk every day, mainly to try and stay as germ free as possible.
On Thursday, my friend Jim and I took a ride west of town for a short hike, some geocaching and to explore an area of the desert known as Motoqua. We found a spring that was piped into a cement basin complete with a door to keep the critters out. These critters managed to get in. We also found a great spot to camp and plan on coming back here in April sometime. The spot has some nice soft sandy soil, surrounded by pinion pines and a red rock area to explore. From this spot, we turned up another single track road and then got out to explore a little on foot. I spooked two nice bucks when I climbed up a small ridge off the road. As it was getting late in the day, we headed back out. We ran into ( not literally) a jeep on the side of the road which had busted a rod. We asked if they needed help and they said maybe a ride to the main road. After looking things over they thought they may be able to retread it and bolt it back in if we could pull back on their vehicle with a tow rope. It worked and they were going to tighten it up more so we headed on out. The funny thing is that they were Washington County Search and Rescue but we did the rescuing. So that is about it for this week. Next Saturday, we are going to Laughlin Nevada to see Alan Jackson in concert, so Carol need to get better.
