After a great night sleep, a fabulous breakfast which included eggs, pancakes, cheese, meats, breads of all sorts etc (all which were organic, even the coffee was organic) we headed for the museums.  The day started out pretty cool but the sun finally came out..  The museums were overwelming!  Especially the Nordic Ship Vasa. Words cannot describe this hugh ship!

The Vasa

The Vasa

We have been having lots of fun exploring this fun city.  It is a very clean city, you feel pretty safe and the people are so friendly.  Even though everyone can speak english, they speak in their native swedish language.  So you have no clue what anybody is saying.  Even with that, we have mastered their public transportation system.  We have traveled on the bus, T-Ban and the Tram.  They have a great public transporation system and it is easy to get on and off.  We ate again at the Fish Truck.  It is so good!  The creamiest mashed potatoes I have ever had!  They were defintely made with rich butter & milk!  Tomorrow we are going to the well known Swedish Smorgasbord at the Grand Hotel on the water.  We’ll see how it fairs up against the fish truck!  Another fun day and Charlie only left the camera behind once today…..but the honest friendly people here would not let him leave it as they called out for him so he could retrive it!  LOL, it is fun trying to remember even the smallest of details.  We have one more day in Stockhom and I know we will have another great day filled with adventure tomorrow……..Carol

Yes, Carol took some of the journal workload  from me. I will just add a few things. The Vasa Museum was amazing. A warship big for its time that sank before getting out to sea on its maiden voyage. It sat submerged for 333 years before being discovered in the 1961. They managed to raise it mostly intact, and then spent 17 years treating the wood aand putting it back together. They were able to piece the planks like a puzzle by matching up nail holes. Finding that first one must have sucked! It is 98% original and quite incredible. Worthy of a google seearch and read. The other museums we went to were the Nordic Museum about life in Sweden,

and Skansen which is a combo living history museum and zoo. All the buildings have been moved here from all over Sweden and people in  costume hang out and talk to you about their lives centuries ago.
